I have extremely oily skin.
I use a great face wash that gets rid of acne and helps a lot with shine, but I am still an oil slick an hour after putting on makeup!
I was looking at primers (Sephora, Smashbox, etc) I am wondering what is a GREAT primer for extremely oily skin?
At Smashbox, I also noticed these little compacts with white powder that are supposed to get rid of shine. Does it work?
I use oil sheets which are a god send, but I would like to not have to use 15 a day!
please help!OILY SKIN: a great mattifying primer? or those mattifying powder compacts?
i use the oil mattifier fromm mary kay, and it definitely works, because i have the same problem. it's around $13 for a small bottle, but i think it is definitely worth it! good luck!OILY SKIN: a great mattifying primer? or those mattifying powder compacts?
Using a moisturizer may help with reducing shine (using one that absorbs properly, and that doesn't feel heavy)
When you wash your face, does it feel tight or dry afterwards? If so, use another cleanser. This is likely causing the shine. A good cleanser should leave your skin feeling.. normal. It should not feel ';squeaky clean'; or tight. Overdrying cleansers can actually be worse for acne as well.
Anyways..
You can try a blotting powder, although it's a lot better to use sheets than reapply powder.
You can check out makeupalley.com or the sephora website for reviews on primers and powders.
Apparently the new Urban Decay primer that is coming out is great (there are already 10 or so 5star reviews for it, based on samples gotten online through other orders). You can check that out on the Sephora website.

If you're near a Nordstrom store, checkout the CoverFX line. They have the mineral powder compact foundation (Powder FX) and a Matte FX powder compact that you can use to touch up to absorb the shine while giving a sheer coverage. Cover FX was developed by dermatologists in a hospital in Toronto and is very skinfriendly. They have a wide range of shades too. Some of their products are similar to MAC. It is also available at some Sephora stores.
Try MAC Studio Fix Foundation.
Its a powder, but it can be applied wet or dry.
It works really well, it looks natural but gives
very good coverage. It's also easy on your skin.

What's da difference between compact and loose powders?
I'm only 20, which one should I use? Do i have to use foundation? What's da difference between compact and loose powders?
loose powder are usually used to set liquid foundation and reduce shine, you would also need a soft powder brush to apply it evenly, since the puff applicator that comes with them don't usually spread it evenly. they are also generally messier so it would be best suited for home use.
compact powder usually comes in different kind of coverage.
light coverage are used for touch ups to prevent shine.
heavier coverage compact needs no liquid foundation, you can apply it straight on moisturized skin.
it really depends on your skin type, if your skin is oily, compact with coverage is better.
however, if it is dry, liquid foundation with loose powder would be a good choice.
if you need minimum coverage, applying loose powder without foundation would be enough.
What's da difference between compact and loose powders?
You can use either, just depends on what you want. You don't have to of course but the loose powder isn't going to be a good idea if you're gonna need it for ';on the run.'; If you want something you can carry with you, get the compact.
you don't have to use foundation. powder is just to absorb oil. compact is for on the go, and loose is more for home use because it's easier to spill and make a mess.color cosmetics

Pretty powder compacts?
Hi. I'm looking for a new powder. I've seen pretty jeweled compacts that some companies have with the powder already in. I can't recall who made them, but what love to find one.
Do you know? I have dark tan skin that has a wrm base, should you know of a specific shade that is great, also.
Thanks for help:)Pretty powder compacts?
Estee' Lauder makes those beatiful bejeweled powder compacts which are re-fillable. I have a gold heartshaped-pink rhinestone encrusted compact.Pretty powder compacts?
your best bet is ebay they do loads of jeweled compacts and just buy a fitter press powder from any drug store and put your new powder in the compact. with your skin tone id say true mach would be best ( colour natural) hope this helps
Estee Lauder has some jeweled compacts. Guerlain has very pretty ones as does some of MAC's collections. As another poster stated, you can get empty ones on Ebay. I found a gorgeous one at a garage sale as well.

Recomendations for powder compacts?
anyone with oily T-ZONE --meaning, forhead and nose-- with a good powder compact? i need recomendations, it's hot and i need something just to get me thru this hot weather.Recomendations for powder compacts?
I have used Mary Kay's for 4 years now and I love it. It gets me through the hot weather wonderfully, and I also have the T-zone problem. They also offer a foundation that helps absorb additional oils. It doesn't ';melt'; off your face during the summer like many others seem to. Good Luck! Oh yeah and they have a new tinted moisturizer you could use that wouldn't even necessarily require a powder or foundation. You could always locate a local consultant and tell them you are interested in ';trying'; a few products. They come to you at no charge and let you try their products, which you aren't obligated to purchase..however I guarantee you will like them so much that you will end up using Mary Kay forever. Much like myself!!Recomendations for powder compacts?

MAC Studio Fix Powder ($25)
This offers great coverage (you have control of how much or how little)
The powder looks great on the skin.
Overall excellent.
I reccomend Trublend from Covergirl. It covers nicely, and blends nicely with your skin. It's under $5.00 at a drugstore! I use it, and it stays on nicely. (Usually I touch up once. That's it!)
Try to use Revlon or Clique
Covergirl is really good...Get one shade lighter than your regular skin tone(if you're dark) or get one shade darker (if you're light)
I use it just on my T-zone and it works really good....especially when I have those reddish pimples, it totally makes them just disappear
Oh, use the powder only, no liquid....that's a mess in this weather
I don't know about you, but I don't have 25 dollars to spend on POWDER, so I can only recommend some of the more inexpensive products.( I have tried them all) The best compact I have used, as far as coverage, wear time, and natural appearance is Tru Blend powder foundation. I know you want something to give coverage even though you may be sweating like a pig, but if you want to still look natural, this powder may not be for you. I rotate depending on my skin in the morning. If my skin seems dry, I use a creamier base and very little powder. If oily and I am breaking out, I use make-up with an acne treatment and is water based,( Tru Blend makes this also)with the heavy powder. That is in the winter. In the summer, I find it better to use a self-tanner( Neutrogena gradual tanner is good) for minimizing the look of blemishes, and a light powder. I suggest oil-blotting strips, they get rid of the shiny patches without the cakiness.
Be careful with cover ups in hot weather. Sometimes less is more try something light. Mix some of your foundation with a light moisturizer that has a SPF of 15 or 30 in it. it will help in the sun and wont make you look sweaty and greasy in hot weather an other to try is fresh by Mirabella

How can i make a powder of coarse graphite into its more compact state of solid shape l?
I already remachined a cylindrical graphite. the results is a fine powdery graphite.i like to re used the powdery graphite to form a much well compact/ fined new cylindrical graphite.coarse graphite tend to break easily when spinning occurs so i like to make a stronger compact cylindrical graphiteHow can i make a powder of coarse graphite into its more compact state of solid shape l?
You are better off purchasing a new block of machinable graphite. The manufacturing process involves hot isostatic pressing at very high temperatures, and uses very fine, uniform powder with a pitch of aromatic hydrocarbons to assist in densification and bonding. Check out one reference I found below. If you're really interested, there's plenty of patent literature. How can i make a powder of coarse graphite into its more compact state of solid shape l?
just purchase some better grades of graphite(poco etc) there are grades that will stand up well to lathe work, grinding etc

You need a binder appropriate for your application, or maybe try a shop press and a piece of pipe.

What is the difference between compacted foundation and loose powder foundation?
Whenever I use compact foundation (like, the compressed one) I just end up rubbing off the other makeup I have on.
I cannot figure out why someone would use this over loose powdered foundation? What is the difference between compacted foundation and loose powder foundation?
You don't really wipe it off you do wipe some off and it blends better too use the loose first and it gives a better ';finish'; look. It helps hide imperfections. When I leave off the loose powder I can see the difference in the mirror. And it's good that some comes off with the compressed powder as that keeps it from looking caked on. I apply blush last so that I don't cover it up. I am having some dental work right now but when I finish in Dec I will e-mail you some pics showing the difference on me of the steps I like to take and maybe you can tell me if it really makes a difference or I just think it does. Sometimes it's good to have an outside opinion. I would appreciate the input. What is the difference between compacted foundation and loose powder foundation?
you use the compact as regular foundation without anything underneath and the loose powder to set a liquid foundation.
i use loose powder to set the playstick from benefit that i use... don't people use the compressed one when their face is bare?

Would the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation Compact work for me?
I am 12 years old and I am looking for some back to school make up. I have very oily skin and some acne (It isn't like really bad though). My checks are sometimes redder than the rest of my skin and I have a few scars from pimple in the past. I am now using the Mac Studio Fix pressed powder stuff, I like it, but it makes my skin look really oily after a few hours wearing. I just wanted to know if the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation Compact would be good for me. I don't want my skin to look oily, I want most of my blemishes covered up, I don't want redness, I want it to last like all day for school (Like an 8 hour day with gym and heat), and I don't want it to clog my pores. Would you recommend this product to me? If not what would you recommend? Thanks! -Chessie xoxWould the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation Compact work for me?
i heard it's kinda crappy.Would the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation Compact work for me?
Ive heard that that actually works really well. I would try it if i was you.
Neutrogena Mineral Sheer Powder works very well on me. My skin gets somewhat oily, but I just keep blotting paper in my purse. If ur looking for coverage however, this product isn't so great. I suggest apply adding concealer to redness or pimples b4 hand. And I don't think they have any kind of fountation that will last thru the long hot days of gym class without making skin more oily or clogged. For that, try removing ur makeup with makeup remover wipes, then put it back on after gym class is over. Ur still only 12, so don't worry so much about covering ur face. It will only cause more damage in the long haul as u get older.
Anyway, good luck!

What do think about Clinique powder compacts?
The Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder ones. Do you know of anything better to control shine? What do think about Clinique powder compacts?
The stay-matte is the best one that I have used so far, and that includes a lot of other cheaper brands. Do you have to put powder (loose or compact) on over foundation or can foundation be enough?
It basically depends on the foundation type :)
It's better to use some powder (better yet some LOOSE powder) on liquid/creamy foundations to help them stay in place and last longer.
Also, if you want a long-wearing, more radiant complexion, it is better to use some powder on top, just like you would apply a top coat on your nail polish^^
You don't really have to, though... it does, as all makeup things, depend on you and on what you feel more comfortable wearing ^^
Hope I helped :)
Lemme know!Do you have to put powder (loose or compact) on over foundation or can foundation be enough?
it's a good idea to use a translucent powder once you are done applying your foundation to set the makeup- it lasts longer that way. another trick is to mist very cold water over your face after you have applied all your makeup (eyeshadow blush etc). you'll want the finest mist possible so no droplets form. you can do this in conjunction with, or instead of a powder (I like to do both) . I think Evian makes a mister you can purchase from drugstores, or check a local dollar store for a cheaper alternative, a misting bottle that you fill yourself.Do you have to put powder (loose or compact) on over foundation or can foundation be enough?
You don't HAVE to, but it's always a good idea to.
Powder sets the foundation and gives a matte look, it also helps control oil. but if you prefer foundation without powder, ofcourse that's fine too!
Foundation by itself is fine, but some people prefer to put some powder on top to help keep the base(the foundation) stay put and to make their face more matte and less shiny.
hope i helped

foundation is usually enough
but to further even out the skin
or if you have some areas that you need to focus on more
then just lightly dust some powder over it
..... dont put on too mich or else your make up will be too natacible
good luck!!
foundation can be enough but some people find, including myself, that using powder over foundation can take away the shine from your face and it usually stays on longer and gives a finishing touch! =] x
No, it's your prefrence. I prefer the loose powder,I think it looks better over top of foundation.
Foundation can be enough. Power just helps it smooth out, look even.

MAC blotting powder loose or compact?
which do you perfer and why?MAC blotting powder loose or compact?
i love both of them but if you will be out and about all day i would go with the compact i have my compact with me 24/7! literally. the loose powder is good for the morning when you are doing your makeup, or if you have a date or something like that. MAC is awesome, it stays on all day i only use it for touch ups. good luckMAC blotting powder loose or compact?
the compact is great. to carry around and it's just great for touch ups
Compact- perfect for touch ups. Loose powder is good for setting makeup when you apply it in the morning though.
I actually have both.... I prefer to use the powder after my foundation and before any actual powders (such as studio fix, or a sheer powder). I find that this helps the effect of the blot powder. However it take a considerable amount of time compared to the pressed compact. I carry my blot compact in my purse so that I can keep the shine away all day. If you are in a hurry this will do, but I found that there is a cleaner more even look when you start by using the loose powder. If you have ever used any powders that come in both loose or compact the loose gives a more finished and clean look. Take it from a MAC queen herself, either will do, but if you have time go for both! One for home and one for the go!

i love it!
=)Mineral Make up, is it better that soild compact powders?
Bare Minerals! Find it at WWW.Sephora.com
I like it alot better!! My Mom sells the Mary-Kay mineral makeup so thats what i use
Definitely better than other powders I've tried. Its light, makes my skin soft, healthier and I never have to worry about it clogging my pores. My favorite mineral make up brand is Bare Essentials, its definitely a must have. Its pricey but its the best mineral make up I've ever tried. I always get great compliments on my skin. People say I have flawless skin, even though i'm far from having perfect skin. It gives me great coverage, for those one or two little bumps or blemishes. I have combination/dry skin and this powder foundation is perfect. Another great mineral powder is physicians formula. I love it too but I personally think Bare essentials is much better.
Oh yes. I love it much better than the compact powders because it covers better and gives you an amazing finish. I have had great luck with the kms mineral essentials products. It is truly all pure minerals, and my skin looks absolutely flawless now.
Yes it is better!!!
I use it all the time!
Try the new Maybelline one its really good!

Does powder from a makeup compact clog pores?
Depends if yours contains oils. I like Almay, but I mostly use Physcians Formula mineral pressed powder and it doesn't clog my pores.Does powder from a makeup compact clog pores?
yes, so wash your face goodDoes powder from a makeup compact clog pores?
NO, most makeup sold is non-comedogenic which means it has been formulated to not not clog pores. Make sure your powder says that on the label. Cosmetics have advanced so much in the last 25 years that there is no need to add ingredients what would clog pores. That doesn't mean you don't have to wash your face at night though. Also, make sure you are using a clean sponge.
many of the ones you buy in stores like target and such do clog pores. if you want something better, you're gonna have to go to a department store and ask the ladies working in the cosmetics section what's best for you! have fun :)
Yeh many do, but if you're worried if yours does, take a precaustion and wash it off with make up remover or watever when you get home, and avoid cheap-a-cheap drugstore brands!
im not sure, but i think it doesnt. just rember to wash your face properly. but i definetly no that liquid foundation is much worse than powder
It totally depends on the type you use and the ingredients it has. Most powders have many ingredients that will clog pores unless you get a mineral makeup. And while many will say ';mineral makeup';, only a few can actually pass the test. The two I recommend highly is BareMinerals (and Minearl Veil is the exact product you would want) and PurMinerals (which comes in compact from for the non-mess lovers.) Both of these have 100% mineral ingredients, and PurMinerals even had the added benefit of having Vitamin E to furthur help your skin, while both have zinc to help prevent and help breakouts. If you have shine that is a concern, PurMinerals would actually be a great help to you because it has less micah in it, which is what tends to make your skin look/feel shiny and oily looking.
Hope this helps and you find the perfect powder you are looking for!
The kinds I like best are bare essentials, and other mineral powders (sold at drug stores). They don't irritate me. If your skin looks dull, you may need to ex foliate.
I like st. Ives facial scrub for sensitive skin
%26amp;Olay mud mask (it's blue).
Be sure to use a toner at least a few times a week after washing your face to keep your pores clear(er).
i think it depends on wich kind you use, mine doesn't
